# NetSepio Hermes Index (NHI)

NHI is a comprehensive Node Operator Rating System designed to enhance Erebrus dVPN solution. It goes beyond simple user reviews by incorporating a multi-faceted data-driven approach to empower users and incentivize node operators.. This system serves multiple purposes:

* User Decision-Making: Users leverage the rating system to make informed decisions when choosing nodes, prioritizing factors like bandwidth, reliability, and user experience.
* Node Recommendation Engine: The system assists in recommending suitable nodes to users within specific regions based on various rating metrics.
* Reward Distribution: Top-performing node operators are rewarded based on a defined set of factors, incentivizing them to maintain high-quality nodes.
* Sponsored Listings: Node operators can opt for sponsored listings to gain higher visibility and attract more users to their nodes.

## Rating Factors

The Node Operator Rating System will consider several factors to provide a comprehensive assessment:

* Uptime: Percentage of time a node is available and operational. Higher uptime signifies reliable connections.
* Bandwidth: Measured capacity of a node to handle data transfer. Higher bandwidth provides faster connection speeds.
* Latency: Round-trip time for data packets to travel between the user and the node. Lower latency delivers a more responsive experience.
* User Reviews: User feedback on aspects like node performance, stability, and overall experience.
* Node Operator Responsiveness: Timeliness of operator response to user issues or reported problems.

## **Data Collection and Aggregation**

* Uptime: Continuously monitor node availability and calculate uptime percentage.
* Bandwidth: Track data transfer through each node to assess bandwidth capacity.
* Latency: Measure the round-trip time for data packets to and from each node.
* User Reviews: Implement a system for users to submit reviews and rate their experience with specific nodes.
* Node Operator Responsiveness: Monitor user-reported issues and track operator response times.

## **Rating Calculation**

A weighted average approach can be used to calculate an overall node rating, considering the relative importance of each factor:

Overall Rating = (W₁ \* Uptime) + (W₂ \* Bandwidth) + (W₃ \* Latency) + (W₄ \* Avg. User Rating) + (W₅ \* Responsiveness)

* Wi: Weights assigned to each factor based on their significance (e.g., Uptime might have a higher weight than Responsiveness).
* NetSepio can define these weights based on user needs and network priorities.

## **Node Recommendation Engine**

The recommendation engine utilizes the node ratings to suggest suitable nodes to users. It considers several factors:

* User Location: Recommend nodes located in the user's preferred geographical region for optimal latency.
* Bandwidth Requirements: Match user bandwidth needs with node capacity.
* User Preferences: Incorporate user-defined preferences, such as prioritizing high uptime or low latency.

## **Reward Distribution**

Node operators with consistently high overall ratings and positive user feedback are eligible for rewards. This could involve:

* Increased Incentives: Node operators earn a higher share of rewards based on the served bandwidth and overall rating.
* Promotion in Listings: Top-rated nodes receive preferential placement in the node list displayed to users.

## **Verified Listings**

Node operators can opt for Verified listings to increase their visibility in the node list. This is a paid service for node operators to enhance their node utilization and thus inentives.

## **Benefits**

The Node Operator Rating System offers numerous benefits:

* Improved User Experience: Users make informed decisions based on reliable node ratings.
* Fair and Transparent Rewards: Node operators are rewarded for maintaining high-quality nodes.
* Increased Network Efficiency: Users connect to nodes with optimal performance, reducing overall network strain.
